Interview with Baker & Event Party Planner Desiree Correa
Dhylles Davis: Who is Desiree Correa?
Desiree Correa: I am many things! Kindhearted, Hardworking, Small business owner, baker, party planner and much more but most importantly a mother and wouldn’t have it any other way. I didn’t know who I was until 2008 when my baby girl Alyssa Marie was born. I am a single hard working mother striving for success and my daughter defines who I am and the woman I am becoming.
Dhylles: When did you realize you were born an accomplishment?
Desiree: Wow! Honestly, I never knew that I was an accomplishment until I became a mother which was the most amazing thing I have accomplished thus far. I was always a negative person who doubted herself every minute of the day and once God blessed me with my baby girl my whole world changed for the better. I do everything possible to succeed in life and that is all thanks to Alyssa. I work hard to make her proud and she has helped me realize that I have these amazing skills and potential that I didn’t know I had till I looked into her eyes. In that moment I knew I was reborn an accomplishment and with my daughter by my side there’s nothing I can’t do.
Dhylles: What was the most profound revelation in your life?
Desiree: This brings tears to my eyes because I recently lost my job and I barely have friends or much family and didn’t know what to do to support my daughter. At that very moment, I knew that I had to pull myself together and rebuild myself to be the strong woman that I want my daughter to become. It wasn’t easy and it still isn’t easy for me but but I decided to put aside my own self-doubts and the doubts of others. Today, I stand up tall and strong with a smile on my face screaming “I’m amazing and there’s nothing I can’t do!”
Dhylles: In what way have you dealt with hurt and healing that has happened in your life?
Desiree: I’m not going to sit here and lie to you. I don’t deal with hurt very well and healing for me has always been a long process. I have managed to stay focused on being the best mother and woman I can be. I have gone through a lot in life that I wouldn’t want anyone to go through. As the years have gone by, I have struggled but being a mother and running my own business has helped me heal not only my life but my heart as well. Helping others create their vision into beautiful works of art has helped me heal and forgive. My daughter, my work and my vision is how I have managed to heal all the hurt I have gone through that has allowed me to help others heal as well. Happy child, happy clients equals a happy ME!
Dhylles: I thank you for sharing and being so raw, real and honest with this interview Desiree. My eyeliner and mascara is smeared due to the tears running down my face from this touching and inspiring interview. I wish you all the success in the world.
